OKLAHOMA CITY (March 29, 2010) — A.H. Strategies, a local political consulting and advertising firm, won two national awards on Saturday from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) for work in the campaigns of Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett and City Auditor Preston Doerflinger.
The company’s creative vendors have now won an impressive 6 national awards for the campaign of Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett.
The advertising awards, called “Pollies” by the AAPC, are hailed as the “Oscars of Political Advertising” and awarded to firms that are engaged in the business of politics.
The first award was won in the “Best Use of New Technology in the Field” for a project in the Tulsa mayoral race. The project, called TheBartlettPlan.com, was a Web site promoting candidate Dewey Bartlett’s comprehensive plan to move Tulsa forward once elected mayor. The Web site was promoted through 6 different technologies, including text messaging and e-mail services.
Also awarded at the national ceremony was a Pollie for a direct mail piece designed and produced by the firm on behalf of Preston Doerflinger’s campaign for city auditor.
The Pollie was awarded in the “Best Use of Humor” category for direct mail because it effectively used humor to poke fun at the candidate’s hard-to-pronounce last name (pronounced DOOR-flinger) in order to draw positive attention to the candidate and create favorable name recognition. The piece had a large headline that read, “What is a Doerflinger?”
“We have a tremendous staff full of talented individuals who make this happen, and I’m proud to work with them and accept these awards on their behalf,” said Fount Holland, a partner and creative director at the firm.
A.H. Strategies is the premier Republican campaign-consulting firm in Oklahoma. In the past decade, the firm has represented more than one hundred winning candidates, many whom hold public office today. Its partners Karl Ahlgren and Fount Holland and their staff have led, managed and participated in numerous successful campaigns for public office, including congressional, statewide, and issue campaigns.
